5 things you have to know about perfumes

Buying perfume made easy

We all know the situation: the actual perfume is slowly but surely coming to an end and it’s time to buy a new fragrance. The question arises: stick with the tried-and-tested fragrance or rather prefer to try something new? We would be happy to help you with a few tips on your search for a new fragrance and tell you what you should definitely pay attention to.

1. Not all perfumes are the same

The range of perfumes is huge. For example, XXL-Parfum.ch offers more than 7500 exclusive fragrances – from Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette to Eau de Cologne. But what is the difference between these three perfume types? The concentration of scent. An Eau de Parfum usually smells the strongest and longest, while an Eau de Toilette is less “obtrusive” and evaporates faster. The lightest variant, meanwhile, is the Eau de Cologne, which evaporates the fastest.

2. There is not only one fragrance

Surely you have already read about the head note, heart note and base note when buying perfumes. The top or head note is the fragrance that unfolds immediately after application and is usually very fresh. The usually floral heart or middle note, which represents the true character of a perfume, lasts considerably longer. The longest fragrance is the often woody base note, which incidentally is also responsible for the fact that perfumes do not smell the same on everyone.

3. Do not buy fakes

You have discovered a great perfume, bought it online and then realize: it doesn’t smell like it should, it has a strange colour or the bottle, recipient looks completely different than usual. That could be because you received a fake. Unfortunately, there are a few black sheep on the Internet that offer fake branded perfumes. That’s why it’s best to buy at XXL-Parfum.ch: We only offer original products – and still at the lowest prices.

4. Maximize impact

You have found the perfect perfume and now want maximum effect. Do not rub the perfume or spray it into your hair. You should prefer to spray your favourite fragrance, preferably right after the shower, on your temples or your inner wrists, i. e. on so-called pulse points. You don’t necessarily have to apply lots of in the morning to smell fresh all day long. A few splashes in the right places are enough – and your favourite fragrance will last longer.

5. How your perfumes last and don't fade

An eau de parfum or eau de toilette usually lasts for three years. If they are not stored properly, their fragrance may fade over time. Therefore, perfumes should be kept as dry and cool as possible and protected from light. This can be in a cupboard or a drawer, for example. If you want, and this may sound a little strange, you can put your favourite fragrance in the fridge. Here, all requirements are optimally fulfilled.
